In case of a decrease or absence of support from the United States, Ukraine will have to increase mobilization. This opinion was expressed by the leader of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia.
“We need more people if the aid is less. We need fewer people if the aid is greater, because then we will be able to close some parts of the frontline with weapons, and we will not need so many people,” Arakhamia said.
The leader of the Servant of the People party assured that he does not believe that mobilization will affect half a million people.
Earlier, David Arakhamia reported that the relevant committee of the Rada would continue working on the new draft law on mobilization, which was adopted in the first reading, because all MPs have comments on it.
As previously reported, on January 30, the Government of Ukraine approved and sent a new version of the draft law on mobilization to the Parliament. The comments and suggestions regarding the draft law were taken into account together with the general staff, the cabinet of ministers, and MPs.
On February 7, the Ukrainian Parliament passed the draft law on strengthening mobilization in the first reading. The draft law was voted in favor by 243 MPs.
In turn, when asked whether a person with a criminal record could be mobilized, Minister of Justice Denys Malyuska said that the decision was not made by the person himself but by the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers, which are responsible for forming the army.
