On February 20, Polish farmers blocked train traffic near the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint, after which they poured Ukrainian grain out of one of the cars.
This was reported by Suspilne.
The farmers reportedly blocked the railroad for about a quarter of an hour. The police arrived at the scene, but the protesters went back to the highway, where they continue to stop the movement of trucks.
Roman Kondruv, one of the organizers of the Polish farmers’ protest, said that the protesters are throwing Ukrainian grain because of their own emotions, they are desperate and cannot stop.
Earlier, Polish farmers warned that on February 20, they would block all border crossings between Poland and Ukraine. This applies not only to border crossings but also to road junctions and routes to freight railroad stations and seaports. It is also worth recalling that on February 9, farmers began a 30-day strike.
Earlier, Ukraine demanded that Poland prosecute those responsible for the grain spoilage that occurred on February 11. The farmers broke the seals on Ukrainian trucks and spilled grain on the road.
On February 16, Mykola Solsky, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, spoke with his Polish counterpart about the situation at the border, and the talks are expected to continue this week.
