According to an opinion poll by the Razumkov Center, more than 80% of Ukrainians would take part in a referendum on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and NATO if it were held in the near future.
This was reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
On September 20-26 this year, sociologists conducted a survey of 2016 respondents living in the government-controlled territory of Ukraine. They used the face-to-face interview method. The theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.
According to the study, 81% of citizens would take part in a referendum on Ukraine’s accession to the European Union. At the same time, 88% of those willing to vote would support joining the EU, while 8% would be against it. At the same time, 82% of respondents would take part in a referendum on NATO membership. Of these, 86% would be in favor, and 10% would be against.
It should be noted that accession to the European Union is most supported in western Ukraine – 96% of respondents. The figure is also high in the central and eastern parts of the country – 90% and 81% respectively. Instead, the lowest rate is among residents of the South – 69% would support the decision.
As for NATO, 95% of residents of western Ukraine would vote in favor of such a decision, 88.5% in the center, and 78% in the east. At the same time, only 64% of residents of the southern regions would vote in favor.
It should be noted that compared to a similar survey conducted in November-December 2021, the number of people who support European integration has increased. Back then, 78% of respondents supported EU membership, while 18% said they would vote against it. At that time, 70% were ready to vote for NATO membership, and 24.5% were ready to vote against it.
