NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the proposed $100 billion fund for Ukraine will help ensure contributions to support the country from all allies in the bloc.

This was reported by Bloomberg.

He explained this initiative of the NATO fund amid concerns that some major member states of the North Atlantic bloc are not fulfilling their obligations to assist Ukraine, which remains under the threat of large-scale military aggression by the Russian Federation.

Stoltenberg says that there is one reason why he wants to strengthen NATO’s support structure, and that is to ensure that the burden is shared fairly. The NATO Secretary General also noted that this helps to involve all members of the alliance, as well as the United States.

Recently, Western media have reported on NATO’s intention to create a fund of about $100 billion, which is planned for a five-year period. The start of its operation is to be agreed upon by the leaders of the Alliance in July.

During the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels this week, some politicians expressed concern about the fund’s ability to attract large financial resources.
